At LAB, our Weekly Classes offer a perfect blend of artistic exploration and creative fun for all ages.
From toddlers (< 3) to teens (10+), our schedule is designed to inspire young artists while teaching them about the rich world of art history. Each month, our classes focus on different themes, inspired by world-renowned artists and iconic art styles.
We believe in the power of art history to open up new perspectives, and we’re thrilled to share our upcoming themes for 2025!
Ta-da!
January - February: A Fantasy Winter Wonderland
Step into a magical winter landscape with inspiration from beloved American painter, Thomas Kinkade. Known for his glowing, cozy scenes, Kinkade’s work will guide our students as they create their own “Fantasy Winter” wonderlands. Through enchanting landscapes, students will explore light, shadow, and the joy of winter.
March - April: Food Fun with Giuseppe Arcimboldo
Next up, we’ll dive into the whimsical world of Giuseppe Arcimboldo, a royal artist famous for creating portraits out of fruits, vegetables, and other foods. Our students will get to experiment with Arcimboldo’s unique style, creating their own food-inspired portraits while learning about this fascinating figure from art history.
May - June: The Mystery of Banksy
Who is Banksy? We’ll explore the world of street art with a focus on this anonymous, thought-provoking graffiti artist. Our students will learn how to take ordinary objects or everyday scenes and transform them into something extraordinary, just like Banksy does, while discussing the social messages behind his work.
July - August: Heroes and Heroines in Pop Art
We’re turning up the energy for summer with a pop culture twist! Inspired by the vibrant, 80’s Pop Art style of Italian duo Van Orton brothers, our students will recreate their favorite heroes and heroines in bold colors and geometric patterns. It’s sure to be a super summer filled with creativity and excitement!
September - October: A Da Vinci-Inspired Sketchbook Series
What would Leonardo da Vinci do? In this series, students will create their own sketchbooks, drawing inspiration from da Vinci’s iconic studies and inventions. We’ll then give a playful spin to one of the most famous portraits of all time—the “Mona Lisa”—with a spooky twist that’s sure to thrill and excite!
November - December: Pattern Collages with Alma Thomas
Alma Thomas’ mesmerizing patterns are the perfect inspiration for our autumn and winter projects. Students will design stunning “Snow Friends” and autumn motifs using her signature abstract style, experimenting with color, shape, and rhythm in their collages.
